Red Flag 77 were formed in Ipswich, UK during the summer of 1990. After playing just 3 gigs they had made their recording debut with 2 tracks on the “Punks not Dread” compilation LP (Punk anoraks note – The handsome guy on the cover is Rikki Flag!)

The following few years saw several line up changes and then a 5 track recording in 1993 which still remains unreleased – apart from the original cassettes sold at gigs. As a five piece the band then released the “Demolition Derby EP” on Weird Records in 1995 (split with P.M.T). Shortly after, bassist Glenn left the band and Fanny moved from guitar to bass duties.

Next the band recorded a split 7” with reformed Essex punks “Special Duties” on Kockout Records. The tracks “How Low?” & “Lipstick” were well received and still remain firm crowd favourites to this day. The band also started to play their first Europe gigs around this time.

Then came the “Look Mum EP” followed by the debut album “A Short Cut To A Better World” both released on the bands own “Menace Records”. The album has since been re-released with extra bonus tracks on Combat Rock Records in Europe and Beer City Records in the USA.

The band continued to embark on regular European tours, performing at some of the major festivals and recorded an Adicts tribute EP (split with Lovejunk). They then added a second guitarist to the line-up - Mickey Trenter.

Back to full power as a give piece, the band then went on to release their 2004 album “Stop The World” on Captain Oi! Records. Most recently, in 2009, the band recorded the album “Rotten on the inside” which, along with other albums, is available in the store.
